Welcome to our FAQ section. These are typically the most
common questions our customers ask us about lawn mowers and other machinery
so we felt it might be helpful to add them to the site. If you can't

us and ask us the question - all relevant questions are being
added to the site on a regular basis.
Do you offer a collection service? If so, do you charge?
We do offer a collection / delivery service and we do charge for
service.
Average costs would be £6 for a small machine and £12.50
for a ride
-on machine.
Collections from greater distances i.e. over 15 miles from West Haddon may incur
a larger charge.
We do not service machinery at peoples homes and this due to insurance
reasons.
We may carry out adjustments if possible but would generally return the machine
to our workshops.
If I bring my lawnmower in this morning for a service can I pick
it up on my way home?
Sorry but the answer to this is generally no . We always try to
carry out repairs and services as soon as possible but we have great
demand for our workshop services.
Do you have a long waiting time to service my lawn mower?
We always have a backlog of work waiting to be done. We do suffer
from exceptionally high seasonal demands and receive more requests
for help and service than we can always cope with. Please think about
your machinery maintenance as our workshop can be like the motorway
on a Bank Holiday.
Yes we appreciate a phone call to book the machine into a job number
system . Many people just bring their machine and are disappointed
when we explain to them that that they are at the back of a queue.
Car engine oil is not recommended for mowers which have air cooled
engines.
We sell SAE 30 to suit all Briggs & Stratton engines and all
other grades of oils for Honda engines etc right up to diesel engine
oil.
What do I mix the petrol & oil ratio at for my lawn mower/ strimmer/
hedgetrimmer/ chainsaw?
This depends on the make of oil selected.
We only supply Stihl 2 stroke oil which runs at 50:1 ratio and with this oil
all the above machines will run OK. Come and buy some as it makes the mixing
of
fuel
very easy.
Do you sharpen blades or do I have to buy new ones each time?
We do sharpen and balance rotary blades . We look at the condition
of the blade and would recommend a replacement blade if it was in
a dangerous or worn condition.
Do you have new machinery in stock to view or do you
have to order the machine I choose?
We carry stocks of machinery in our showroom
and generally can satisfy most requests. We may have to order at
times and usually can
check with manufacturers the delivery time.
Are you able to post spares out to me?
Yes we can post most spare parts out to customers. We also use a
carrier service for some items of higher value where goods must be
signed for on delivery.
Is The Mower Shop anything to do with the Plantsman Garden Centre?
No we are a completely separate business simply situated within
the Plantsman Garden Centre.
Yes at the time of order we will ask for a card number. This secures
your order and no charge will be made to the card number until we
have contacted you to advise you that the parts are ready to collect
or despatch.
